Singing is fun! But we get robbed of the joy and why is that? Let's call it out and get the fun back in singing.
There is so much we resist in life but this is also the case for the singer. Here's a tutorial that might help.
It seems obvious but why do so many performers struggle to smile in performance? Is there a good reason or perhaps it’s because we just don’t know what they can actually do? This tutorial explores the art of “smiling”!
This new episode is all about giving focus to your technique. Being able to give intention to your singing by setting and energising each note with this simple visualisation tool.
Today’s tutorial has got some skills for preparing your performances. And to be honest, the byproduct of it will probably help your vocal technique. Hope it helps!
At my studio I develop a range of artists. We work on vocal technique, developing an identifiable sound, finessing musicianship and getting ready for the studio. Here’s an artist I’ve been working with recently - incredibly talented and driven and it’s really bringing about some great results.
Perhaps this phrase has become a cliche but I think it goes a bit deeper. So many things sabotage us before our “best” really has the opportunity to reveal itself. I hope you find my 3rd tutorial helpful.
Here is the first of a new series of tips and tutorials I’ll be releasing here on my website and across my social media. This one is all about the benefits of failure! I hope you find it helpful.
Here’s the single “Both Sides” from my new album Broken Lives, now available on all digital platforms. Really proud to be getting new original music out there, remembering I’m a coach and an artist!
Loved coaching the winner of Series 1 of The Voice Kids, Jess Folley. Such a powerhouse!
I've worked with Beverley for several years now. She's grown so much and I'm so proud of the artist she's become. A cracking voice and an amazing soul!
I loved working with these guys! The Bloom Twins have already made a huge impact, with several very successful releases and also in their support tour of Duran Duran. Their dark take on electronic pop is so current and completely engaging.
This is an incredible country duo I've had the chance to work with recently. They're based in London and making some exciting new developments both in the UK and US. Their songs are raw and melancholic and their harmonies have Everly-Brothers-type precision. So excited about these guys - a definite one-to-watch!
Releasing some videos of some of the great artists I'm proud to work with. This first one is featuring an incredible singer, Alisiana. Just released her new album and making some big waves in the music industry. Take a look!
Hi guys! Welcome to my first (short!) blog entry here at my brand new website, jonomcneiled.com. Really excited about this new site that I’ll be using for my vocal coaching. Have a look around! Find out a little more about me and how I came into what I do - a combination of some lessons learned the hard way, along with a whole lot of hard work (oh, and a very geeky passion for singing). I’ve also included some samples of some of my music, but keep your eyes peeled - some exciting new original material is around the corner as well.
Feel free to drop me questions, start discussions on contemporary singing, or of course enquire after a lesson. I’m going to keep this regularly updated with articles, thoughts on singing, incredible performances, and resources from some of my gifted friends and colleagues. Don’t go far!
